Partners in Prayer,
He asked them, 'But who do you say that I am?' Peter answered Him, "You are the Christ.' Mark 8:29
If you were one of Jesus' 12 followers or disciples, you would have seen some amazing things. You watched Him give sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf. You saw Him raise lame people to their feet and send them on their way walking, running and leaping. You heard Him speak a word to the winds and watched as it sudddenly grew calm, and the huge waves immediately dropped down into the glassy sea. You even watched Him raise dead people to life again. Every time you think you have seen it all, Jesus does something even more mind blowing than the last.
There are all kinds of rumors floating around about who Jesus is. Some think He is John the Baptizer raised from the dead. Others think He is the great miracle-working prophet Elijah, who was taken alive into heaven. Now He asks His disciples, "Who do you say that I am?"
Speaking for all the others, Peter answers , "You are the Christ." Peter and the others have seen and heard enough to know that Jesus is the Son of God Who came to be our Savior. In the coming days Jesus will reveal His mission to them --- the reason He came as that tiny Baby in Bethlehem's manger and grew up among us.
Who do you think He is? That is a question we need to ask today. It is a question that will shape our life on earth and our eternal future.
THE PRAYER: Lord Jesus, You worked great miracles to reveal Yourself to Your followers. Help me also to see and believe.
